Congratulations to Our 2025 Tug of War Champions

Methodist Girls’ High School, Mamfe-Akuapem (MEGHIS) proudly announces yet another historic achievement by our outstanding Tug of War Team. With resilience, teamwork, and unshakable determination, our girls represented Ghana at the 11th Oceanic African Tug of War Championship, held in Kimberley, South Africa, and came home with medals that make us beam with pride!

A Medal-Winning Performance 

At this prestigious continental competition, our Tug of War queens proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. Competing against the best teams across Africa, they showcased discipline, unity, and strength. Their efforts earned them the following medals:

• 500kg Women Championship – Silver Medal

• 500kg Women African Championship – Silver Medal

• 540kg Women Club Championship – Bronze Medal

• 560kg Women Club Championship – Bronze Medal

• 600kg Mixed Club Championship – Bronze Medal

This extraordinary performance not only secured Ghana a spot on the medal table but also placed Methodist Girls’ High School Mamfe firmly on the global sporting map.

On the Road to Nottingham, UK

As a result of these remarkable achievements, our Tug of War team has officially qualified to represent Ghana at the World Tug of War Championship, scheduled to be held in Nottingham, UK, in September 2025. The girls will compete in both the Junior and Under-23 levels, carrying the hopes and dreams of MEGHIS, Mamfe-Akuapem, and the entire nation.

This upcoming championship presents a great opportunity not just for medals, but for our students to gain international exposure, build lifelong sporting skills, and serve as role models for young girls across Africa who aspire to rise through sports.

Strength, Determination & Sportsmanship 

What sets our girls apart is not only their physical strength but also their team spirit and discipline. Tug of War is a sport that demands more than muscle—it requires synchronization, mental toughness, strategy, and endurance. Our girls have displayed all these qualities and more, proving that with hard work and unity, anything is possible.

We are immensely proud of their sportsmanship, the humility with which they compete, and their burning desire to lift the flag of Ghana high.
